Development work in KP to be refocused, says Imran

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday said that his party will redirect all its focus on making Khyber Pakhtunkhwa into a model province which would be an example for the rest of the country, DawnNews reported.
While addressing a Dharna convention in Islamabad, the PTI leader highlighted measures that were being taken in KP to improve the governance system.
Imran said the police system in KP has been transformed and that reforms were also being introduced in public hospitals.
He also announced that PTI would soon come up with a new manifesto for the tribal areas.
“No one should be under the impression that PTI has backtracked on its word to build a new Pakistan,” he said.
While speaking about alleged vote rigging in the 2013 General Election, Imran warned the government that his party could still shutdown the country if a judicial commission was not formed.
Imran Khan also took aim at PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah, saying that 2015 would be the year when the former Punjab law minister would be sent to jail for arrest and torture on PTI workers during protests in Faisalabad.
The PTI chief accused the government of paralysing life in the country by creating a gas, petrol and water crisis.
He ruled out the allegation that the PTI's Islamabad sit-in had been ‘scripted’.
“I assure you that even Einstein could not have written such a script,” he said.
Meanwhile, Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid in reaction to the PTI leader's speech said now was not the time for negative politics and that a concerted effort was needed to address the issue of terrorism.
He questioned Imran as to what was the performance of the KP government in the war against terrorism.
The minister also that the PTI chairman's demand of opening four constituencies had already been met and that Imran would always face embarrassment when the results of his demands were met.
The PTI, along with Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), had launched a campaign against the government of PM Nawaz Sharif in August last year, demanding that he resign over alleged rigging in the 2013 polls.

Seriously, does prevaiz Rashid not think today's audience has access to newspapers and internet. Every press conference he does only dents his own credibility... And he hasn't gotuch of that to start with anyway.

Nothing has gone into waste.IK raised valid concern regarding rigging and he will take this slogan into next election.People are more aware of their rights than before.Yes they have not done much in building roads and other tangible projects but lot has been done in Reforms,health sector,education and police. I think empowering police (free from political intervention) is the biggest achievement which none other province has done despite continuous rule.Looking forward to see more with this new resolution.

He did what he was supposed to do. He tried to infuse awakening among the masses that they do n't have to be subservient to dynastic, hereditary , linguistic and ethnic politicians. Now it is up to the nation how it moves forward. As he said, he is going to devote his time, energy to the development of KPK. Barring unforeseen circumstances, he will make KPK , a model province.

IK is losing his popularity and credibility and so is the government. The government must form a judicial commission to probe into the deliberate rigging or an administrative mishandling to which Imran Khan has said he will not demand a step down of NS government. The government should also investigate the Model Town incident and punish the culprits.
If the PML(N) doesn't do these two things they will lose the next election.

Notwithstanding his party's long and some might say overreaching emphasis on dharnas and the resulting expenses-it has been a worthwhile exercise in empowering the civil society to stand for its democratic rights. However, moving forward IK's emphasis should be as they say "all politics is local" and that means he needs to work hard to improve KPK. And if he can do that and delivers good governance there-he can one day use that road map to the national stage. As for us, we need to support him in his endeavor-otherwise the choice is between the same old rotten and corrupt politics of PML-N and/or of PPP-AZ.

Plan KP what Imran should have stayed focused on following 2013 elections, this is what really expected by his voters not demonstrations against sitting government, country would not have had to experience terrible school tragedy.
Unfortunate circumstances have opened our eyes to internal problems all over the country have given cause to eradicate the terror menace people of Pakistan have suffered living with so long/

Imran please take this promise seriously and in the background keep working on measures to make sure next elections are fair and not rigged. Make Naya KPK and Inshallah you will get a chance to make naya Pakistan in next elections which I think will be sooner than later. People who loves you want to see some actions beyond dharnas and shut down of cities. You can do a lot in KPK in next few years. Education, law and order, jobs creation, infrastructure, etc. are some fundamental things you can work with your team to show measurable improvement. You can put your success in KPK in front of people of Pakistan who are smart people and they will vote for you next time. Yes there was cheating in the previous elections but you need to let it go and concentrate in your performance in KPK.

@Gaz if you are so well informed about the intelligence agencies please shed some light on the DI Khan jailbreak to which the KPK government was informed a week in advance and took no action and for two months straight denied any advance knowledge of an attack. But later admitted to knowing well before after the investigation. PTI and Imran Khan can do only two things blame others for unassociated problems and take U-turns. Lets hope they actually start making tangible plans and decisions.
