QUETTA: Miscreants blew up a railway track in the Bolan district of Balochistan on Tuesday, Levies sources said.

Levies sources told Dawn that miscreants planted an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) close to the railway track in the Mashkaf area of Bolan district.

The IED went off with a big bang, Levies said, adding that there were no casualties. Meanwhile, passenger trains were stopped in Quetta to avoid any untoward incident.

Technical staff was immediately rushed to the site to repair the damaged portion of the track whereas personnel from the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) were sent to the area to search for any other planted explosives.

Passengers faced difficulties owing to the suspension of the train services.

There has been no claim of responsibility for the attack.
