TAXILA: Security agencies arrested 20 suspects from Taxila and Wah Saddar police area on Wednesday.

The agencies combed the areas where mostly Afghan and tribal people reside.

The operation was launched following defusing of one kg locally-made bomb on Taxila Chowk on Tuesday.

Sources said heavy contingent of police including officials from woman police, special branch and elite force carried out the operation.

Sources said that during the search operation, dozens of houses were searched and data of people living on rent were collected.

He said 13 suspects were arrested from different parts of Taxila and seven were rounded up in Wah Saddar Police station limits.

They were mostly Afghans or tribal people and living in the area without valid documents.

Police sources further added this crackdown is part of a search operation aimed at preventing infiltration of terrorists in the city and neighboring Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
