Nobel Prize & pride

Published December 25, 2014

I AM proud of Malala’s Nobel Peace Prize but I still don’t know what to be proud of? Pakistan’s name called in Oslo? Yes, I am proud of that. Malala’s speech? Yes, Gordon Brown is an experienced politician and speech writer.

Malala’s dressing up for the occasion? It would have been a lot better if she were in green and white shalwar. Dr Abdus Salam was Ahmadi, hence lost in our memories which, in my opinion, is totally right but disgusting.

Such prizes and honours do not come with religions, sects, genders or age. I thought Nobel was above all these things. Gordon Brown, the jobless ex-prime minister of the UK, has done a good job.

I guess the hiring people paid him well. Till the writing of this script, I still do not know why Abdus Sattar Edhi has been overlooked.

Thirdly, the prime ministers of Pakistan and India should have been there in Oslo. Nawaz Sharif is always ready with his kit of foreign suits to travel with family and cronies.
