QUETTA: Security forces on Tuesday arrested five suspected militants from Killa Saifullah district of Balochistan, official sources said.

A security official, who requested anonymity, told Dawn.com that forces conducted a raid in Nassai area of Killa Saifullah district. He said forces picked up five suspected militants during the raid.

“Militants belong to banned TTP (Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan),” he said, adding that the security forces were interrogating the militants and shifted them to an undisclosed location.

The identity of militants was not disclosed.

The forces also recovered weapons and explosives from the militants’ possession, said the official, adding that the militants were also involved in kidnappings for ransom in the area.

The arrests have come a day after the same number of suspected militants were arrested in Kuchlak area of Quetta.

Security forces have launched a crackdown against the militants in Balochistan in the aftermath of deadly Taliban attack on an army-run school in Peshawar that killed 150 people mostly children last Tuesday.
