MULTAN, Sept 12: A teenage boy, whose right leg was polio-affected, was recovered by a court bailiff from the roof of New Multan Police Station where he had been detained illegally, court officials said.

The 15-year-old Ashraf Ali worked at a plastic factory in the city. His masters, Zulfiqar, Sharafat and Mehmood Ali, became angry with him and called police on Wednesday to get him arrested, his mother Sajida Bibi of Lohari Gate area said in her petition for habeas corpus.

The three men beat him up at the factory before he was arrested by ASI Sarfraz Gujjar and some constables who also tortured him without justification after taking him to the police station, she alleged.

Bailiff Ikram Goreja recovered the boy from the roof of the police station. No case was found registered against him. His arrest was also not mentioned in the police record.—APP
