KARACHI, Sept 12: Supply of contaminated water through water tankers in the rural areas of Karachi may cause epidemic spread among the people, while water board authorities are doing nothing to improve the situation.

It has been observed that tanker mafia is busy in supplying contaminated water to the residents of Gadap, Malir and Bin Qasim towns, from a hydrant situated under the Quaid-e-Abad bridge, carrying warning: “this water can not be used for drinking purposes.”

Contaminated water is also being supplied from the hydrant located in Gadap Town for Rs400 per tanker, endangering health of the people.

The water board authorities and town Nazims have expressed their ignorance regarding the issue.

Reportedly, the unhygienic water is also being supplied to the camps where the flood victims hailing from Badin and Thatta districts are being settled.—PPI
