Amitabh Bachchan awarded 'International Icon of the Year'

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan was on Sunday awarded 'International Icon of the Year' at the Sansui Colors Stardust Awards, the Indian Express reported.

Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar and actors Saif Ali Khan and Ritesh Deshmuk hosted the star-studded ceremony where Queen and Highway dominated the winners' list of searchlight awards (small budget, big concept).

Queen bagged the 'Best Film' award whereas the film's leading lady Kangana Ranaut won the 'Best Actress' award for her striking performance.

Both Vikas Bhal (Queen) and Imtiaz Ali (Highway) won the 'Best Director' award.

Highway's Randeep Hooda was named 'Best Actor' along with co-star Alia Bhatt who was awarded 'Superstar of tomorrow'.

Happy New Year received 'Film of the Year' award for ruling the box office, while the film's director, Farah Khan, received the 'Dream Director' Award.

Shah Rukh Khan was awarded 'Best Actor' (thriller/action category) for Happy New Year. He was also named 'Star of the Year — Male' while his co-star Deepika Pudonke was awarded 'Star of the Year – Female'.

Moreover, renowned actor Asha Prekh was honoured with 'Lifetime Achievement Award' at the ceremony.
