QUETTA: Gunmen killed the headmaster of a private school in Balochistan's Gwadar district on Thursday.

Police sources said that armed men opened fire at the vehicle of Zahid Ali, headmaster of a private school in Gwadar Bazar. Ali died on the spot and the assailants sped away on motorcycles after the attack, police said.

Ali's body was later shifted to the District Headquarter Hospital (DHQ) Gwadar for autopsy. Panic prevailed in the city in the aftermath of the attack. However, there was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.

Balochistan has seen a sharp rise in incidents of targetted killings and bomb explosions. This incident has come two days after militants targetted vehicle of Adviser to Chief Minister Balochistan on Education Sardar Raza Mohammad Bareech in Joint Road area of the city. Sardar Bareech remained unhurt in the attack.

In a separate incident, a bomb went off close to vehicle of security forces in Turbat. Police said the blast was followed by intense firing in the Turbat bazar. There was no casualty reported and the security forces' convoy also remained unhurt in the attack.
