QUETTA: Two policemen were gunned down in Gahi Chowk area of Sariab on Wednesday.

Sources said that the policemen were having lunch at a restaurant in Gahi Chowk area when two gunmen entered the place and opened fire on them. One cop died on the spot and the other succumbed to his injuries in Bolan Medical College Hospital.

Quoting hospital sources, police said the two personnel had received multiple bullet injuries.

“The motive behind the attack could not be ascertained,” a senior police officer said, adding it appeared to be a case of targeted killing. The victims, identified as Head Constable Zahoor Ahmed Bangulzai and PC Rahim Dad Parkani, were on patrolling duty.

Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch condemned the double murder and termed it an act of terrorism.
