WTO moot begins

CANCUN (Mexico), Sept 10: World trade ministers, meeting behind police barricades and riven by internal discord, opened a five-day conference here on Wednesday to the chants and jeers of protesters.

“We will only achieve the objectives of trade and development if there are benefits for all,” World Trade Organization (WTO) director general Supachai Panitchpakdi said in his inaugural address.—AFP
