KARACHI: Visiting Hyderabad become the first team to make exit by losing second successive match of the group in the National Bank of Pakistan Cup basketball tournament at the Arambagh floodlit court on Saturday night.

Making amends of the opening day’s loss, district South Greens humbled Hyderabad 45-35 to register first victory in group D. The winners led 29-33 at half time.

Playing on his home court, Zain-ul-Abedin mustered 13 points as his team-mates Asad Imam, Umer Khan and Fazeel Ahmed contributed eight points apiece for winners. Hassan Siddiq and Shahzil scored eight and six respectively for losers.

Playing their first respective match, two other outstation teams – Sukkur and Larkana – fell prey to district East Greens and district Malir Whites.

East Greens conjured up 54-28 victory over Sukkur after enjoying 18-11 lead at breather. Talha Amjad scored 12 while Samad and Abbas equally shared 16 points amongst themselves. Naveed shone for the losers with 20.

Malir Whites notched up their first win in two games while getting the better of Larkana 38-22.

Babar and Faraz scored six points apiece while Shehroz scored 11 for losers.
