KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court has issued a contempt of court notice to the Sindh police chief and summoned him in person for defying a court order in an extortion case.
Mohammad Moosa, Imran and Mohammad Bilal have been charged with demanding protection money in September last year.
The court had repeatedly summoned Assistant Sub-Inspector Mukhtiar Ahmed, a witness of arrest and recovery of a rickshaw, for his evidence, but he did not turn up.
Judge Bashir Ahmed Khoso of the ATC-I issued a contempt notice to the Sindh police inspector general and said that the IGP was asked twice to ensure the presence of the ASI, but he failed to comply with the court orders and committed an offence.
The judge asked the IG to appear in court in person on Saturday.
