PESHAWAR, Sept 9: Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai in his telephonic contact with the veteran Pukhtun nationalist leader Wali Khan extended him an invitation on Monday to visit Kabul.

According to a press release issued by the Awami National Party here on Tuesday, the Afghan president telephoned the senior leader at his resident, Wali Bagh, on Monday and extended him a formal invitation to visit Kabul.

Besides Mr Khan, Mr Karzai also talked to Begum Nasim Wali Khan and exchanged views in detail on the current political issues of regional and international importance.

“Thanking for his goodwill gesture, Nasim Wali accepted Mr Karzai’s invitation, saying that a delegation of the ANP would shortly visit Afghanistan where it could possibly exchange views with Afghan leaders on issues of mutual interest,” concluded the press release.
