LAHORE: The two, three and four-year-old Pakistani thoroughbreds will be vying in three races, including two cup events, to justify their breeding credentials when a card of seven races will be gone through during the Lahore Winter Meeting at the Racecourse here on Sunday.

The events in which they are listed are the Naunehal Cup, a term race for two-year-old in which six colts besides a filly are to measure their strides over 1,000 metres distance.

The A. Hameed Memorial Cup to be gone over 1,300 metres has been named after the Lahore Race Club (LRC) ex-stipendiary steward in recognition of his services.

Hameed, a former jockey, who after hanging his saddle had served the club for many years, died of heart attack recently.

The Conflict Plate, a class VI event to be contested over 1,300 metres has 10 acceptors.

The three events are being participated by the progenies of some famous progenitors such as Assassi, Country Rambler, Virtual, Conflict, Dubai Edition, Putra, Mutajil etc. and are expected to delight connoisseurs of the equine sports by their performance.
