RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Friday appointed MPA Ijaz Khan Jazi as the acting president of the party’s Rawalpindi district and asked him to mobilise people for the November 30 public gathering in Islamabad.  

It may be noted that Arif Abbasi, the president of the PTI Rawalpindi, along with nine other office-bearers and workers, including Punjab north president Sadaqaat Abbasi, was suspended for beating Imran Khan’s cousin Ahmed Niazi at the sit-in site in Islamabad.

A senior party leader told Dawn that Imran Khan watched the CCTV footage of the fight between the PTI workers and his cousin.

After finding the involvement of the party leaders in the incident, Mr Khan decided to give the acting charge of the PTI Punjab north to Amir Kiani and the Rawalpindi district to Ijaz Khan Jazi.

He said the party chairman was worried about the mobilisation of people for the November 30 show in front of Parliament House.
