LAHORE: About a dozen of highly bred thoroughbreds will be jostling for supremacy when an eight-race card will be gone through during the eighth Lahore Winter Meeting gets at the Racecourse here on Sunday.

The Fan Tan Cup, a class V division I handicap race to be gone over 1,300 metres, has an array of eight good pedigree thoroughbreds Who are expected to make it a close and interesting contest for the enjoyment of connoisseurs of the equine sports.

The main supporting event, the Bhalwal Plate class VI division I and II combined to be contested over the sprinting distance of 1,000 metres has the largest field of 18 runners. Some finely bred- thoroughbred jewels in the line-up will vie to make the contest worth-seeing. In a couple of other events, there are a couple of outclass runners but very bad starters to make the result absolutely unpredictable.

In all, 85 runners are to participate in the eight events in which picking a winner may prove a difficult task for the punters. Two races will be contested over 900 metres, five over 1,000 metres and one over 1,300 metres.

The first race will be held at 12:00noon.
