KARACHI: Karachi Dolphins, Rawalpindi Rams and Lahore Eagles sealed the remaining three semi-final spots up for grabs in the PCB Inter-Region Under-19 Three-day Cricket Tournament on Tuesday.

The Dolphins thrived on skipper Saud Shakeel’s second half-century of the quarter-final clash against Peshawar Panthers to win by nine wickets at the Mirpur Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

After bowling the Panthers for 173 in the second innings, the Dolphins reached 109-1 with the talented left-handed Saud making an unbeaten 50 off 62 balls with 10 boundaries. Hasan Mohsin scored 34 not out.

Saud, who made 69 in the first innings, also excelled with his spin bowling with match figures of 7-71 with fellow spinner Mohammad Asghar finishing with seven for 73.

The Rams defeated Islamabad Leopards at the National Cricket Ground by seven wickets after reaching 81-3.

The Eagles qualified for the last-four stage on the basis of first-innings lead after drawing with Quetta Bears at the Jinnah Stadium in Gujranwala.

The Eagles, resuming at 61-4, were all out for 186 in the second innings.

The Bears preferred to play rather chase 232 needed for victory by closing at 120-5.

Faisalabad Wolves are already through to the next phase of the competition, having defeated Bahawalpur Stags by six wickets in their quarter-final at the Gymkhana Ground in Okara on Monday.
