Captain Altaf lifts Agha’s ACC Sportfishing Cup

KARACHI: The ACC 2014 Agha’s Silver Jubilee Sportfishing Challenge Cup 2014 concluded here on Sunday at the picturesque National Sailing Centre at the Boat Basin in the seventh Marine Gala titled ‘Discover Marine Pakistan’.

As many as 58 anglers and 19 angling teams locked horns during the Cup. They were flagged off on Saturday evening where team captains were handed over scoring sheets and flags along with T-shirts and caps. The anglers headed out into the open Arabian Sea searching for their prize trophy catch.

The areas covered by the anglers ranged from Port Qasim to Gadani and maximum fish were landed from “Hayat ka Pathar” facing Gadani, where Queenfish (Aal) were caught in abundance. The different fish species landed in the tournament were Queenfish, Mackerel, Grouper and Barracuda.

Results:

Men’s: 1. Captain Mohammad Altaf (Team No 2 for landing a 10.25kg Queenfish); 2. Hasan Kara (Team No 12, also caught a Queenfish of 10.25 kg); 3. Akhtar Hussain (Team No 13 for catching a 9.75 kg Queenfish).

Ladies: 1. Shahida Murtaza (Team No 7 for landing a 7.25kg Queenfish).

Children’s : 1. Hasan Kara (Team No 2 for landing a 10.25kg Queenfish).

Different Species Trophy :

Heaviest Queenfish: 10.25kg — Mohammad Altaf (Team No 2).

Heaviest Mackerel: 8kg — Saad Akhtar (Team No 6).

Heaviest Grouper: 6.75kg — Shahzad Khan (Team No 15).

Heaviest Barracuda: 4.25kg — Iqbal Hussain (Team No 10).
