PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has announced compensation for the dead and the injured of the Kohat van blast under the Shuhada Package.

Under the package, heirs of the deceased would be paid Rs500,000 and the injured Rs200,000 each.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, Mr Khattak said that meager amount could not be substitute for precious human lives, but it was meant to share grief of the victims.

He asked the hospital and local administrations to focus full attention on quality treatment of the injured of the incident and capture of the culprits without delay.

Meanwhile, PTI chairman Imran Khan prayed for eternal peace of the dead and early recovery of the injured.

In a separate statement, Khyber Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan condemned the killing of innocent citizens in the bomb blast and said that the elements involved in the heinous crime would be brought to justice.

Expressing his deep shock and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in the recent wave of terrorism in the province, the governor said, such cowardly acts of terrorism could not deter the government to establish its writ in every corner of the country. He also expressed his deep sympathies with the members of the bereaved families and early recovery of the injured.
