KHAR: The political administration on Saturday finalised its security plan for Eidul Azha to thwart any untoward incident in Bajaur Agency, warning that some elements could try to disturb law and order during the Eid days.

In this connection, political agent Jabar Shah chaired a meeting of senior officials of the local administration, which was also attended by Bajaur Scouts commandant Col Mir Amir and officials of Bajaur Levies forces.

Issues related to the law and order, security plan for Eidul Azha and strategy to maintain peace during Eid days were discussed in the meeting.

The meeting noted that threats to peace in almost all areas of the tribal agency had been reduced because of the administration’s security measures.

Speaking to the participants, the political agent said that the administration was committed to ensuring peace and normalcy in the agency and all possible means were being used for the purpose.

He said that peace had been restored in the region and no serious threats to peace had been reported for the last several weeks, but some elements could try to disturb the law and order situation during Eid days.

“The threats have reduced, but it does not mean that we ignore any anti-social activities during Eid days as some miscreants living in the Pak-Afghan border areas could try to sabotage peace in the agency,” he said.

Mr Shah urged officials of his administration and the Levies force to remain alert for facing any challenge during the Eid days.

Briefing reporters, Bajaur Agency assistant political agent Sohail Ahmed said that it was decided in the meeting that at least four personnel of Levies force and five volunteers of village defence committees would be deployed outside each mosque and Eidgah in the most sensitive areas while two Levies men and two members of peace committee would be deployed in less sensitive areas to check the people while entering mosques.
