PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that his government is considering making legislation to reward those who would help in apprehending corrupt people.

Talking to a joint delegation of Khyber Union of Journalists, Peshawar Press Club and Journalist Welfare Foundation here on Tuesday, he claimed that 50 per cent of the problems would automatically be resolved if the federal government held investigations into the alleged election rigging.

Mr Khattak said that PTI sit-in against the federal government would continue even after Eidul Azha.

On the occasion, the chief minister gave cheques of Rs5 million and Rs1 million to presidents of KhUJ and JWF for welfare of the journalist community.

Minister for Information Mushtaq Ghani, adviser to chief minister Arif Yousaf and officers from information department were also in attendance.

Mr Khattak claimed that his government wasn’t spending public funds on the advertisements in newspapers to highlight its performance.

The chief minister asked newsmen to present suggestions on how to solve public problems. He said that he supported positive criticism to help resolve people’s problems.

Mr Khattak assured that journalists would be provided land for media enclave after Eidul Azha. He also extended government’s cooperation to Peshawar Press Club regarding its golden jubilee celebrations.

The chief minister directed the minister for information to hold meetings with journalists and prepare a report to solve their problems on priority basis.

Khattak claimed that the sit-in against the federal government was successful as the message of PTI chairman Imran Khan had reached every citizen of Pakistan.

The chief minister asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to resign until the charge of election rigging was proved wrong against him.
