PESHAWAR: Pakistan Peoples Party provincial president Khanzada Khan has said that the people, who are creating rift in the party, will have to change their attitude or face disciplinary action.

In a statement here on Sunday, he said that he had always tried to bring all party workers on a single platform and remove whatever differences they had with each others but no one would be allowed to create rift in the party.

The PPP leader said that holding intra-party elections was not his mandate because the decision had to be taken by the central leadership.

“I also want the workers to elect office-bearers. The process will be completed in different districts in the same manner,” he said and added that organisational units had already been dissolved and the process to name the office-bearers would be completed gradually.

Mr Khan said that a suggestion about holding intra-party elections was sent to central leadership but it was rejected because elections could not be held in a single province. The policy of intra-party elections would have to be implemented across the country and for the purpose suitable time could be chosen by the policy makers of the party, he added.

The PPP leader asked all those workers, who had reservations about the party policies or about anyone on the key seats, to sit together, talk to the concerned persons and join hands for strengthening of the party in their respective areas.

“The workers should realise significance of the time to come forward, share views with each others and work for implementation of the Bhutto ideology,” he said.

Mr Khan said that PPP had roots in the masses because of its pro-poor policies. PPP always fought for the rights of the labourers, low income group and farmers.

He said that the credit went to PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari to lead the party successfully and complete its five-year term in the government despite several challenges.

“I am of the firm belief that our party people have no serious differences and their reservations can be addressed shortly. It is the only party which enables its workers to raise objections and speak whatever they deem fit,” Mr Khan said.
