GUJAR KHAN: Several incidents of armed robbery have been reported in Gujar Khan and surrounding areas in the last two weeks.

In the latest incident, six armed men entered the house of Ghulam Abbas and Qamar Abbas in Sandal Village on Saturday night and escaped with 30 tolas of gold, 1,000 British pounds in cash, some cellphones, a licenced pistol and a television set. Local police have registered the case.

Residents of Missa Kaswal area gathered at the police station and demanded the station house officer, Inspector Akbar Abbas, to take notice of the situation and improve patrolling on Missa-Jerro Ratial Road.

They threatened to stage a protest in front of the office of the CPO Rawalpindi if Gujar Khan police did not take action to put an end to this wave of robberies.

They also urged the inspector general of Punjab police to take notice of what they see as police inefficiency.
