ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Friday temporarily reinstated membership of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl candidate Maulvi Agha Ahmed whose National Assembly membership was cancelled owing to a fake degree.

A three-member bench, headed by Justice Saqib Nisar, issued the order pertaining to temporary reinstatement of the JUI-F candidate who had been disqualified from his NA-261 membership on September 9 by the Balochistan Election Tribunal over charges of holding a public office in a fake degree case.

After issuing notices to the concerned parties, the hearing of the case was subsequently adjourned to October 9.

Tribunal judge Mohammad Naeem Kakar had declared null and void the election results of his constituency and had ordered re-election.

Maulvi Agha had been elected from NA-261 (Pishin-Ziarat).
