QUETTA: Security forces claimed to have foiled a major terror bid Thursday seizing 250 kilogram of explosives on the outskirts of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province, a security official said.

A security official, who requested anonymity owing to the sensitivity of the matter, told Dawn.com that forces conducted a raid in Hazar Ganji area of Quetta and recovered explosives and other arms and ammunition.

He said explosives and other weapons were dumped into a valley and were recovered by forces following intelligence reports.

“No arrest was made,” he said, adding that raids were being conducted to apprehend the culprits behind dumping of explosive materials.

The security official revealed that explosives and weapons were being brought to carry out subversive activities in the city. He said that anti terrorist force and police personnel participated in the raid conducted on intelligence reports.
