KARACHI, Aug 31: Bandits either hijacked or stole 126 vehicles —61 cars and 65 motorcycles—in different parts of the metropolis during the past week.

Police said 34 cars were hijacked and 27 others stolen in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Ferozabad, Gulistan-i-Johar, Gulberg, Saddar, North Nazimabad, Defence, Clifton, etc.

Twenty-one motorcycles were taken away at gunpoint and 44 others stolen in many localities, including Liaquatabad, Zaman Town, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, New Town, New Karachi, Buffer Zone, Garden, Eidgah, Gulberg, Azizabad, Saeedabad, Kharadar, Garden, TPX, Mochko, Korangi and others.

The police claimed recovery of 41 stolen cars and 40 motorbikes during the week.
