KOHAT: Police recovered a kidnapped man in Gandiali area here on Thursday after exchange of fire with the kidnappers.

A policeman was injured in the shootout. The injured policeman was identified as Jihad Ali, the head of Bannu Gate checkpost.

Police said that the kidnapped man, Saifur Rehman, was recovered unhurt during an operation conducted in Gumbat area on Rawalpindi Road.

Police said that the kidnapped managed to escape to the nearby mountains. The injured policeman was admitted to KDA Hospital for treatment.

They said that unidentified kidnappers had abducted Saifur Rehman from Cantonment on Tuesday last. Police traced the den of kidnappers through their tracking system when the family of the victim received telephone calls from the abductors for ransom.

Police raided the den of kidnappers and recovered Saifur Rehman.
