TOBA TEK SINGH: The Ravi waters on Tuesday inundated over 12 villages of Pirmahal and Toba Tek Singh near Head Sidhnai.

According to an official, the affected villages include Bhussi Kathia, Darsana, Mauza Bubb, Umme Chirag, Dargahipur, Mehram Kathia, Jangal Imam Shah, Kikri Sher Shah, Rampur, Chak 772-GB, Chak 756-GB, Nanka Gidder and Chak 736-GB.

Roads linking to the villages were submerged by floodwater and sugarcane and cotton faced destruction.

A Rescue 1122 official said hundreds of people had been evacuated from the villages.

Meanwhile, District Coordination Officer Dr Farah Masood visited the flood-stricken areas and relief camps. She supervised distribution of meal among the families.

GUJRANWALA: As many as eight villages of Sodara Town, Kot Natho, Leweriwala, Rana, Patoki and Maniwala devastated by Nullah Pulkhu were still under water.

Army personnel provided about 1,000 food bags and other articles besides medicines to them by helicopters.

A number of people whose household items and cattle washed away, were sitting along GT Road and other safe places, seeking help from the government.

Some women with tearful eyes said dowry of their daughters had also been swept by water. They demanded that the government provide them compensation on a priority basis.
