MURREE: Like most parts of the country, Murree is also bearing the brunt of the rain and landslides.

A two-year-old girl became a victim of landsliding after her house in Danna Awaen was damaged in the rain and she got buried in the debris.

Rashid Zaman, the victim’s father, works as a peon in a government school. His house and family were swept away in the landslide. Except his infant daughter, Zaman managed to save his remaining children.

In a similar incident, Naseer Abbasi also lost his house to landsliding in Dhak Mussiari. However no casualties were reported.

The Rawalpindi-Murree-Kashmir (RMK) Highway has been damaged near Takya Mehram Shah due to heavy landsliding. The area has still not been cleared despite continuous efforts by the Punjab Highway Department.

The RMK traffic has been diverted to Expressway. After a lot of efforts, the New Murree Road has been opened but only to light traffic.

Attendance in schools and offices has been sparse as many link roads remain blocked because of the landslides.
