Kidnappers’ gang busted

LAHORE: Nawab Town police claimed to have busted a gang, including a woman used as a trap, for kidnapping a trader for Rs4 million ransom.

In a handout, Nawab Town SHO Naveed Azam said the suspects, including Adnan alias Dani, had kidnapped Asad, a trader of Bahawalnagar district, and kept him in a rented house of Johar Town. He said they had trapped the trader through a 25-year-old woman, Maryam Sarwar.

The police team first traced the lady suspect through the mobile phone record and then arrested her and three other accomplices, including Khurram and Bilal. Illegal weapons and mobile phones were also recovered from the suspects. They have been handed over to the investigation police for further probe, the SHO said.

KILLED: Robbers killed a man on resistance during a robbery at Allu village, Kahna area.

Police said Majid Sharif, 35, was stopped by three robbers on a road near the village at 5am when he was returning from the vegetable market after selling vegetables.

Quoting victim’s brother, police said Sharif offered resistance and tried to overpower the robbers. At this, the robbers shot him in the chest and belly and later fled from the scene.

The injured was shifted to the Lahore General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
