LAHORE: The Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) has acquired the services of a foreign coach to supervise the ongoing training camp in Karachi to prepare the team for the Asian Games.

“Yaqoob Hussain, a British coach of Pakistani origin, will be joining the camp from Aug 25 to impart two-week strenuous training to as many as 25 boxers,” said PBF secretary Iqbal Hussain on Tuesday.

Iqbal said Yaqoob, a level-4 coach in international boxing, was a world-known coach who had been running his boxing club in the outskirts of London for nearly four decades.

“I met Yaqoob during the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and gave a presentation on the preparations of Pakistan boxers for its future commitments including the Asiad,” he said.

“Yaqoob was kind enough to lend support to Pakistan boxing and offered his free-of-cost services which shows his passion for our boxers.”
