DSP suspended for links with criminals

PESHAWAR: Another senior police officer was suspended on Monday for his alleged close association with outlaws.

Central police office said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani had received various complaints against DSP Bannu, Sardad Khan, that he had alleged close association with criminals.

The police chief confirmed these complaints from senior police officers of Bannu region. However, nature of the crimes was not disclosed.

The police chief, in the light of the initial inquiry report of Bannu region police officers, suspended the police official and directed him to report to the central police office with immediate effect. The police chief also ordered departmental inquiry against the suspended police official.

Meanwhile, a traffic ticketing officer of sub-inspector rank Umer Khan was awarded cash prize of Rs25,000 and commendation certificate for returning Rs13 million to bank which had fallen from a security vehicle at Rampura Gate.

Speaking at a ceremony at central police office in this connection, IGP Nasir Khan Durrani said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police force had no parallel in bravery and honesty. The IGP claimed that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police were the most courageous and honest force of the country and the personnel had practically demonstrated it from time to time in the line of duty. He paid tribute to the honesty and integrity of the traffic police officer.
