SWABI, July 20: Provincial secretary of local government Baz Mohammad Khan has faxed a letter to the district coordination officer and tehsil Swabi naib Nazim, directing the latter to convene a council meeting to decide the no-confidence motion against the Nazim.

Tehsil Swabi Nazim Masood Jabar secured leave on Saturday and proceeded abroad to delay the motion.

Official sources told Dawn on Sunday that the motion movers had approached the provincial minister for local government, who directed the secretary to take necessary action under Section 63 of the NWFP Local Government Ordinance 2001.

According to the rules, the convener was required to convene a session of the tehsil council within a week of the receipt of a no-confidence motion. But the tehsil naib Nazim had also adopted delaying tactics to dodge the motion movers, the sources said.
