Imran's allegations tantamount to accusing judiciary, says ex-CJ

QUETTA: Former chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said Tuesday that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s allegations against him with regards to election rigging were tantamount to accusing the entire judiciary, DawnNews reported.

Speaking to media representatives after offering Eid prayers at Quetta's Eidgah Toghi road, the former CJ said that a legal notice had been sent to Khan and further action would be taken on the matter after a span of two weeks.

Earlier, lawyers of the former chief justice had sent a defamation notice worth 20 billion rupees to Khan.

The PTI chief had accused the former chief justice of poll rigging in the 2013 general elections.

The former CJ’s son Arsalan Iftikhar, who also spoke to reporters, termed the allegations leveled by Khan as lies.

Arsalan said that Imran should first accept the fact that he has a daughter, adding that the top priority was to bring her justice.

The CJ's son had earlier alleged that Khan had cheated the Election Commission as well as the nation by concealing that Tyrian J. Khan was his daughter.

My mother taught me that everyone's respect and pride were in their own hands first and foremost. Justice IC is no exception and he should look in the actions of his own son first, before pointing fingers at others.

I think people like CJ iftikhar are what give a bad name to judiciary. Read senior lawyer Naeem bokharis letter to this ex CJ on how corrupt and shameful CJ is for the entire judiciary. He knew very well what his son was upto when the son was living like a king in monaco london. But CJ himself was too busy "enhancing" the level of his protocol. All this is documented. Furthermore, you can see clearly that the CJ and his corrupt son have come out to harm IK near the Azadi march on 14th August. Also I hope dawn you publish this as for some reason you are very protective of ex CJ Iftikhar and his son.

Mr iftikhar chaudry he has accused you of involvement in rigging in 2013 general elections. if you have guts then face the music instead of hiding behind the whole judiciary. i hope some reporter there asked him that why he wanted his son arsalan iftikhar to be appointed Vice chairman Baluchistan investment board and this info was reveled by Hasil Bizenjo in live with talat on aaj tv

Unfortunately people in Pakistan thought that they had found an upright person who will stand up to the powerful. You took them for a ride, and the way you protected your son and the way judicary converged to safe guard its own intetest. Your association with PML-N is not secret. I for one has no hesitation to say that the judicary as a whole lacks moral authority to be any positive force in this country.

I'm a PTI supporter. When IK accused Mr Chaudhry of rigging for the first time, Mr Chaudhry simply ignored the allegations and termed them as 'bakwas'. To be honest, I was irritated by his arrogance and felt that he dwarfed Imran Khan by sheer arrogance. But now when he is at all out war with IK, it gives me a feeling of triumph. No matter how much Mr Chaudhry tries to prove that his battle with IK has got nothing to do with Nawaz Sharif, his entry into the arena is going to be seen as "the best batsmen sent by Mr Sharif against Mr Khan."

I believe, right or wrong, every act of Iftikhar Chaudhary, till the day of his retirement, is a judicial act. His meetings with the ROs in 2013 elections; who incidentally were Sessions Judges too; was a judicial act. Imran Khan can be critical of ROs, but his outburst that Iftikhar Chaudhry manipulated all the elections through ROs, is a direct contempt of the Supreme Court, of which Iftikhar Chaudhary was the Chief Justice.

A vicious effort to fire at IK by using shoulder of entire judiciary. An argument long used by military to justify actions of individuals. It ll be futile and now it's immense responsibility of judiciary that it doesn't act with military mindset. The unbiased persuance by higher judiciary is required to decide the outcome of case and save the dignity of institution. I hope the judges rise on this very occasion.

The term biasness of the judges and deciding authorities are considered a permanent and most important part of English Law specially law of equity am unable to understand the logic of former CJ. The right of contempt of Court can not and should not be treated as political weapon and the office of judge (Court) is different thing from his personal deeds and actions. Former CJ wants to hide himself under the umbrella of Judiciary. He should face the bucket now. He always use the card of rule of law and upholding of Constitution and his reference was decided larger bench instead of Supreme Judicial Council and by negating the procedure given by the Constitution. He also proceed his case in the streets that was a perfect example of injustice. Now everyone should realize the fact time of Justice Marshall and judicial activism has been over. 9

Here Chief Justice (former) is not pointing fingers at others. He has initiated a legal case asking IK to provide credible evidence of his accusation against him that is fair enough. I Khan must provide evidence or make a public apology for telling lies.

Strange that the former CJ is crying foul. After disgracing the hallowed office during his tenure, he has no worry that someday, in near or distant future, he will be facing the Ultimate Judge. With his record he should really fear that day. Similarly his own spawn, Arsalan, should not even show his face to the public, given what he did when his father was the CJ.

The EX. CJ knew about his son Arsalan activities and high style living. He being a father and CJ should have taken note of Arasalan wayward life. Failure on his part to reprimand his son makes him as guilty as his son. Pakistan tax authorities should investigate both the CJ and his son.

I was amongst the millions who had participated in the lawyers movement enthusiastically. Despite the disappointment with ex CJ, I have no regrets. The movement was for a noble cause. The same principles have now to be applied to ex CJ and his son. Bring the allegations of corruption and misuse of the office to a logical end. This is what rule of law requires. Ex CJ has not been fair to those millions who were driven by patriotism and who made the movement a success.

Because what ever wealth Arsalan accumulated using your name is obviously shared by you now because those days you said that you have ejected Arsalan from your House and on Eid you were together meaning you both living together.
