LAHORE, July 19: Rahimyar Khan and Faisalabad entered the final of the Punjab Inter-district hockey championship on Saturday.

A  hat  trick  by Asif enabled  Rahimyar Khan to outclass Muzaffargarh 5-0 in a semifinals, after taking a slim 1-0 lead in the first half. Irfan  put  Rahimyar Khan ahead 1-0 after 10 minutes into the game. The lead remained intact till the end of first half. In  the second session, Rahimyar Khan scored four  goals.  

Asif completed the hat trick in short period of 17 minutes. He  scored a  goal each in the 49th, 63rd and 66th minutes. Asif scored  his second goal in the 69th which proved the final of the match.

Faisalabad  routed  Vehari 5-2 in the another  semifinal. Faisalabad  took the lead first in the 7th minute of  play  when two-goal scorer Imran struck his first through a field  attempt. Vehari, restored the parity through Nasir in the 23rd minute.

After resumption, Faisalabad added four more  goals. Muhammad  Taufique  helped Faisalabad surge  ahead  2-1.  He converted  the fourth penalty-corner in the 37th  minute.  Three quick goals in a short span of seven minutes had totally turned the match in Faisalabad’s favour.

Imran  banged  home his second in the 51st  minute.  Four minutes later, Muhammad Rafique made it 4-1.

Faisalabad  scored  their  final goal through Riaz  in  the  58th minute to build 5-1 lead. Vehari scored their second goal in  the 61st minute when Nasir scored his second.

The final will be  played on Sunday at 4.30pm.
