ISLAMABAD: A military spokesman on Saturday said the media had given unnecessary hype to the summoning of the army for securing the federal capital.

He said during a meeting over the launch of operation Zarb-i-Azb “it was decided on June 15 that the army would be deployed for the security of sensitive buildings such as the Presidency, Prime Minister House, Parliament House and Adiala Jail.”

The government recently repeated the said decision and did not add anything new to it, he said, adding that summoning the army to aid the civil administration was nothing new or alien to the constitution but a routine matter.
