LAHORE: An unidentified woman allegedly kidnapped a toddler from a medical ward of the Services Hospital on Thursday.

Raju Masih, of Baghbanpura, came to the hospital with his family, including 10-month-old Taimoor, to see his mother-in-law Musarrat.

Police said CCTV footage showed a woman took away Taimoor, son of Raju Masih, of Baghbanpura.

Shadman Station House Officer Mohammad Asim told Dawn the family left Taimoor with the stranger woman in the corridor of Medical Unit-III and went to a doctor. The woman met Raju's wife on Wednesday at the hospital and remained with her for a day.

On Thursday, he said, Raju rushed to the ward leaving the baby with the woman when doctors told him that patient's condition was critical.

When he returned, he found his son and the woman missing. He raised hue and cry and informed the hospital administration about the abduction.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the abduction and sought report from the police as well as the hospital administration.
