CHAKWAL: Former district nazim Sardar Ghulam Abbas claimed on Wednesday that due to his group’s efforts Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif came to Chakwal to inaugurate two road projects.

Speaking at a press conference at Dhudial village, Sardar Ghulam Abbas said on June 1 his group staged a sit-in at Dhudial Chowk in which they gave a deadline of two months for the resumption of stalled work on Mandra-Chakwal and Chakwal-Sohawa roads. Consequently Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif came to Chakwal on July 16 and re-launched two road projects.

“Any sincere and coordinated efforts meant for the betterment of the public is not gone wasted,” he said and added that it was former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf who first launched these two mega road projects and issued funds for the both roads.

“Albeit I have no relation with Raja Pervez Ashraf but the credit of these two mega road projects goes to him,” Abbas maintained.

Mr. Abbas, who contested last general elections as an independent candidate from NA-60, said political parties were contacting him. “Political parties are in contact with me just because people are with me,” he said.

Commenting on the setting up of proposed sub-campus at Government Postgraduate College Chakwal by University of Gujrat, Mr Abbas said with the support of the people of Chakwal they would never let UoG occupy Chakwal college.
