Nisar directs DG FIA to crackdown on human smuggling

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Tuesday directed the Director General Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Ghalib Ali Bandesha to take steps to stop human smuggling through airports.

This was directed by the interior minister while chairing a high level meeting with the heads of attached departments at the Ministry of Interior.

The minister showed his concerns regarding the recent incident of human smuggling from Islamabad Airport and discussed various measures to check and deter activities which bring a bad name to the country

He emphasised that incompetence, dishonesty and a lack of commitment will not be tolerated in any government department.

Nisar also directed the DG FIA to take strict action against those officials who are involved in such illegal activities.

Imtiaz Tajwar, Chairman National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) told the interior minister that household survey in seven out 21 sectors of Islamabad has been completed with the help of Islamabad police and registration in the other sectors will be completed by the end of November.

He also informed that sites for installing camera have been finalised in consultation with police under the safe city project.

Tajwar expressed optimism that Islamabad would soon become the first Pakistani city which has been secured through the latest technology.

The minister also gave directions that the data collected in the registration process must be properly analyzed from a security point of view.

The IG Islamabad told Nisar that a pro-active approach is being followed regarding security, while at the same time rigorous search operations are being conducted on a weekly basis to check unlawful elements, especially in the suburbs of Islamabad.

Nisar directed the ICT Administration and police to take fool proof security measures in the last days of Ramazan and especially on the eve of Eidul Fitr.
