HYDERABAD: A member of the District Intelligence Bureau (DIB) was seriously wounded in an ambush near Noorani Masjid in Liaquat Colony late on Friday night.

Hyderabad DIB chief Junaid Latif Abbasi said Shahid Bashir, a head constable, was attacked by two armed men riding a motorcycle while he was on a routine patrol in the locality within the remit of the Sakhir Pir police station.

The victim received nine bullets and was rushed to the Liaquat University Hospital, from where he was referred to a private hospital in Karachi on Saturday morning due to his critical condition.

The motive for the attack could not be ascertained till Saturday evening.
