New train between Lahore & Okara

LAHORE, July 17: Railway authorities have decided to run a new shuttle service between Lahore and Okara.

Officials say the new train, Data Ali Hajveri, will start running soon after inauguration of Green Town station by minister Ghaus Bux Maher in the outskirts of the city later this month.

The station is being constructed reportedly on the pressure of an influential person in the federal government who is also pressing railway authorities to approve stoppages of fast trains running on Lahore-Karachi and Lahore-Quetta routes there.

However, the authorities are resisting the pressure for the sake of performance of the fast trains.

Meanwhile, the authorities have assured trading community of Sialkot of running a special container service between Sambrial and Karachi.

During a recent visit to the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry, railway high-ups also assured the traders a good and in-time service with safe hauling of their luggage.

In the meantime, passengers of Ghauri Express (Faisalabad non-stop) protested against non-functioning of airconditioner in coach No 11 of the train on Thursday. They also registered their grievance in the complaint book available on the station.
