Faisalabad thrash Mianwali

LAHORE, July 16: Four more matches were held in the NBP-Inter- district Hockey Championship at the National Hockey Stadium on Wednesday.

A match-winning goal by Nauman Junior in the dying minutes of the game helped Rawalpindi beat Muzaffargarh 1-0.

Nauman Junior struck the all-important goal in the 69th minute.

Two goals by Zeeshan enabled Faisalabad to earn their second consecutive win, beating Mianwali 5-1 Pervez, Riaz and Shahnaz added a goal each.

For the losers, Wahid scored the solitary goal. Rahimyar Khan earned 4-2 win against Narowal.

For the winners, Rana Navid scored two goals while Kashif Malik and Farhan added a goal each. For Narowal, Irfan and Shahzad added a goal, apiece.

Dera Ghazi Khan defeated Vehari 3-0 with Riaz scoring two and Nauman Senior a goal.

The last round of the league matches will be held on Thursday after which the position of the teams for semifinals will be cleared.

Meanwhile, three members of Dera Ghazi Khan Hockey Association alleged that Punjab Hockey Association has denied their original team from participating in the championship an allegation the PHA has denied.

Meanwhile PHF regional umpiring clinic also started from Wednesday.
