Saudi Arabia deploys 30,000 troops to Iraqi border: report

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has deployed 30,000 troops along its 800km border with Iraq, Saudi-owned Al-Arabiya television channel reported on Thursday.

The deployment came as Iraqi forces abandoned their positions on the border, leaving it unprotected, the report added.

King Abdullah had ordered that all necessary measures be taken to guard against potential threats, a Saudi Royal Court statement said.

The order came during a meeting of the Saudi National Security Council to discuss the fallout of developments in Iraq. “Concerned about Saudi Arabia’s security and to safeguard against terrorist organisations or any other groups that might endeavour to destabilise the kingdom, he (the king) has ordered all necessary measures to protect the gains of the homeland and its stability, and the security of the Saudi people,” the statement added.

@Pak Rat inshallah but expect another big arms sales deal very soon between the kingdom and the new world order. Its all about marketing, only the method is different than the usual marketing skills.

Well the Saudis have funneled hundreds of millions of dollars into extremist madrassas in Pakistan and beyond for the past three decades. They are happy to keep youth radicalized and ppinting at other targets. Sooner or later all this hatred is all bound to get back to the mothership with lots of dividend.

Some time ago Nawaz received 1.5 billion dollars. Was it advance salary for the 30000 Pakistani troops going to be stationed along Saudi-Iraq border. We all know our army is most fitted for such occassions. This is just a guess
