QUETTA: Commander of Southern Command Lt Gen Nasser Khan Janjua said on Thursday that the army had moved to clear North Waziristan of terrorists.

Speaking at the passing-out parade of police personnel who had completed training under the army’s supervision here on Thursday, he said that militants would no longer be allowed to use religion for carrying out their activities.

Home Secretary Akbar Hussain Durrani, General Officer Commanding Maj Gen Samrez Salik, Inspector General of Police Mohammad Amlesh and other civil and military officers also attended the ceremony.

Gen Janjua said that enemies of Pakistan were using money as a tool to misguide the youth for their vested interest.

“The government is sincerely moving forward to restore peace and bring the outlaws to justice,” he said.

“The army enjoys complete support of the government and the masses in the military operation against those who are killing innocent civilians.”

He lauded the services of police for maintaining peace in the province and asked them to continue to work with the same spirit.

“The spark in the eyes of passing-out cadets shows that they will uphold the sanctity of the national flag and will never let it down.”

Earlier, the general distributed prizes among 100 police personnel who undertook the training.
