PM forms committee to oversee Zarb-i-Azb

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday constituted a `National Cabinet Coordination Committee’ to oversee Operation Zarb-i-Azb being conducted in North Waziristan.

The committee, according to an official statement issued by the Prime Minister Office, would meet on a regular basis and keep the premier informed about the progress of the operation.

The committee will coordinate with different institutions for the settlement of people displaced by the operation.

Members of the committee will include federal ministers for interior, defence, information, planning, SAFRON and a representative from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. Secretaries of interior and finance divisions, KP chief secretary, chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority will also sit on the committee.

From the military side, Chief of General Staff, Directors General of Military Operations, Inter-Services Intelligence and Inter-Services Public Relations will be members of the committee.
