SWABI: Two people were shot dead in separate incidents here on Sunday, said police.

Unidentified motorcyclists opened fire on players during a cricket match in Sheikh Jana village, injuring one Faramosh Khan. He was shifted to hospital, but died there. The Kalu Khan police registered case and began investigation.

In the second incident, gunmen attacked one Gul Zeb in Pajman village of Gadoon Amazai, killing him on the spot, while a passerby, Doran Khan, was injured in the incident.

Swabi city police registered case into the incident on the complaint of the wife of the victim against Shah Nawaz, Nawaz Khan and Said Qamar. She told police that the killing was because of an old enmity.

ANP-W GAINING POPULARITY: Awami National Party-Wali (ANP-W) leaders on Sunday said that only the genuine followers of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan would be allowed to join the party.

Party’s district organiser, Malik Gohar Zaman, and other leaders told a meeting here that some elements were trying to hijack the newly established party by making their entry into it, but the workers would foil their designs.

“The establishment of the new party was because the followers of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan had been misguided by opportunist leaders,” he said.

Mr Zaman said that ANP-W chief, Begum Nasim Wali Khan, was expected to pay a visit to the district very soon. “Several workers and genuine followers of Khan Abdul Ghaffar’s philosophy would join the party as contacts with them have been accelerated,” he said. He alleged that Awami National Party had become a bunch of opportunist leaders.
