KARACHI, July 12: Three prosecution witnesses, including Hasan Dilawar and Mohammed Rafi, on Saturday identified Amir Khan, secretary general of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement (MQM-H), as the accused involved in the murder of one, Anam Aziz.

Anam Aziz was killed during an attack on a polling camp, belonging to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on the day of by-election in NA-255. The attackers are yet to be identified.

Deposing before the Judicial Magistrate, East, Ms Zabeeha Khattak, the prosecution witnesses in their 164 CrPC statement, said that the accused, Amir Khan, had arrived at the scene of the incident along with a number of the MQM-H activists and instigated his companions to open fire at the Muttahida’s camp. As a result, they deposed, Anam Aziz died of injury.

The magistrate recorded the statements in the courtroom inside the Central Prison Karachi as the police authorities had maintained that the accused could not be produced before her in the Judicial Complex, Malir, for security reasons.—APP
