VEHARI: At least 10 people were killed and several others injured in a head-on collision between two vehicles here on Wednesday.

Police said that the accident took place at Burewala Road near Adda Zaheer Nagar in Vehari where a passenger van collided head-on with an over speeding truck coming from the opposite direction.

As a result of the collision, five people were killed on the spot while more than 13 others sustained injuries.

Five of the wounded succumbed to their injuries while being shifted to the hospital and during treatment, raising the death toll to 10.

Hospital sources said the condition of some of the injured was critical, fearing the death toll may rise further.

Police took both vehicles into custody and, registering a case into the incident, started investigation.
