LANDI KOTAL: Two peace volunteers were killed in a roadside bomb blast near Bazaar Zakhakhel here on Tuesday.

Also in the day, the administration of Jamrud tehsil temporarily Nato supplies via Torkham border over the removal of damaged vehicles from the road.

Local officials said the blast occurred in Bukar Mastak area after a vehicle of Zakhakhel peace committee, locally known as Tauheedul Islam, hit a roadside bomb during a routine patrol.

They said the terrorist activity left two members of the peace body, including Karnal Khan Afridi and Arafat Khan Afridi, dead and three injured.

The officials said the injured were pulled out of the damaged vehicle and shifted to hospitals in Peshawar.

NATO SUPPLIES SUSPENDED: The administration of Jamrud tehsil in Khyber Agency on Tuesday temporarily suspended Nato supplies via Torkham border.

The development comes after the administration asked contractors of Nato supplies to provide it with heavy machinery for clearing the road of vehicles damaged in the Monday militant attack.

Local officials said they had asked contractors to provide them with heavy machinery for the immediate removal of damaged vehicles to ensure smooth flow of traffic and to minimise the risk of more attacks on vehicles.

They said the Nato supplies would be restored only after the road was cleared of damaged vehicles.

Insiders said local khasadar and levies forces were reluctant to provide security to Nato vehicles in light of the frequent militant attacks.

They said it was that reluctance, which prompted the Jamrud administration to demand additional deployment of khasadar and levies personnel from Bara tehsil in the area for their deployment at Wazir Dhand Market and Jamrud Bypass Road to protect Nato vehicles against militant attacks.

ABDUCTEE KILLED: The Khasadar personnel recovered the body of a kidnapped man from a dried-up watercourse in Gudar area of Bajaur Agency.

Local officials said Shah Jahan, 28, of Maniyakhel was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen on Monday evening.

They said the abductee had died for being severely tortured and dragged along the road by a car The officials said the body was found in a dried-up stream.

They said the reason of the man’s abduction and killing was not known.

GUNNED DOWN: Unidentified gunmen killed a woman in Gudar area here on Tuesday.

A local official said the 35-year-old was the wife of Zarin Torkhel but the reason of her killing was not known. He said relatives didn’t file a case of the killing with the administration.
